Yes - Time and a Word (Full album 1970)

“Time and a Word” is the second studio album from the English rock band Yes, released by Atlantic Records in 24^th of July 1970 in the UK and in November 1970 in the U.S. Several months after releasing their debut album Yes, the group resumed touring and recorded Time and a Word at Advision Studios in London during gaps between shows. The group continued to follow their early musical direction of performing original material and cover versions of songs by pop, jazz, and folk artists. A small orchestra of brass and string session musicians was used on most of the album's songs.
Guitarist Peter Banks did not support the idea of adding an orchestra to the album, resulting in increased tensions between himself and the rest of the group. During their UK tour in April 1970 and before the album's release, Banks was fired from Yes and was soon replaced by Steve Howe. The UK album cover was considered inappropriate for the American market, so a new photograph of the band was used, putting Howe on the cover of an album on which he did not appear.
“Time and a Word” became the group's first release to enter the UK Albums Chart, with a peak at number 45, but did not chart in the United States. The album received mixed reviews from critics. In 2003, the album was remastered with several previously unreleased tracks.

Cateva luni dupa lansarea albumului lor de debut “Yes”, grupul a reluat turneele si au inregistrat “Time and a Word” la Advision Studios in Londra, in timpul pauzelor dintre spectaccole. Grupul a continuat sa urmareasca directia lor muzicala de mai devreme, interpretand material original si cover-uri ale cantecelor de pop, jazz si folk apartinand altor artisti. La cele mai multe cantece ale albumului a fost folosita o mica orchestra de alamuri si coarde a unor muzicieni de sesiuni de inregistrare.
Chitaristului Peter Banks nu i-a placut idea cu orchestra pe album, rezultand o crestere a tensiunilor dintre el si restul grupului. In timpul turneului din aprilie 1970 din Marea Britanie si inainte de lansarea albumului, Banks a fost concediatde catre Yes si curand a fost inlocuit cu Steve Howe. Coperta albumului din Marea Britanie a fost considerate nepotrivita pentru piata Americana, asa ca o noua fotografie a trupei a fost folosita, punandu-l pe Howe pe coperta unui album in care el nu apare.
“Time and a Word” a devenit prima lansare a trupei care intra in UK Albums Chart, atingand locul 45, dar nu a prins lista de albume din Statele Unite. Albumul a primit aprcieri amestecate de la critici. In 2003 albumul a fost imbunatatit si a cuprins in plus cateva piese nelansate anterior.
