Curtis Stigers was born in Boise, Idaho, and started his
music career as a teenager, playing in jazz, rock and blues groups, as well as
receiving formal training in clarinet and saxophone at high school in Boise. He
acquired much of his inspiration and encouragement for pursuing jazz from jam
sessions led by Gene Harris at the Idanha Hotel. His song "Swingin' Down
at Tenth and Main" is a tribute to those times with Harris. After
graduation, he moved to New York to pursue rock music but soon found himself playing
and singing in a jazz trio. He was signed to a recording contract by Arista
Records and released two albums for the label: a self-titled, multi-platinum
debut in 1991, and "Time Was" in 1995. His smooth, blend of soul and
rock translated into commercial appeal, ensuring his continued popularity. In
addition, Stigers moonlighted as a jazz vocalist, performing and recording with
artists such as Gene Harris, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Prince, Bonnie Raitt,
Rod Stewart, The Allman Brothers Band, and Joe Cocker. He sang a duet with
Julia Fordham on her re-recording of "Where Does The Time Go?".
Curtis Stigers s-a nascut in Boise, Idaho si si-a inceput
cariera muzicala ca adolescent cantand in grupuri de jazz, rock si blues, in
Cantecul sau “Swingin’ Down at Tenth and Main”
doilea “Time Was” in 1995.
In completare Stigers
Gene Harris, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Prince, Bonnie Raitt, Rod Stewart, The
Allman Brothers Band si Joe Cocker. A cantat in duet cu Julia Fordham pe
reinregistrarea ei “Where Does The Time Go?”

“The Famous 1938 Carnegie Hall Jazz Concert by Benny
Goodman”, Columbia Records catalogue item SL-160, is a two-disc LP of swing and
jazz music recorded at Carnegie Hall in New York City on January 16, 1938.
First issued in 1950, the landmark recording captured the premiere performance
given by a big band in the famed concert venue. The event has been described as
"the single most important jazz or popular music concert in history:
jazz's 'coming out' party to the world of 'respectable' music." Both critical
and public reception of the performances was outstanding.
The title, mastered from preserved acetates, was among jazz's first double
albums, first live recordings, and first to sell over a million copies. One of
the earliest records of Benny Goodman music issued on the new long-playing
format, the concert recording was also sold in a set of nine 45 rpm records in
1950 by Columbia. The subsequent discovery of the aluminum studio masters made
from the original recording resulted in several high-quality CD reissues
beginning in 1998.

la petrecere in lumea “muzicii respectabile””. Primirea criticii si a

“It Might as Well Be Spring” is an album by American
saxophonist Ike Quebec recorded in 1961 and released on the Blue Note label.
The Allmusic review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine awarded the album 3½ stars and
stated "Ike Quebec recorded another winning hard bop album with ‘It Might
As Well Be Spring’. In many ways, the record is a companion piece to ‘Heavy
Soul’. Since the two albums were recorded so close together, it's not
surprising that there a number of stylistic similarities, but there are subtle
differences to savor. The main distinction between the two dates is that ‘It
Might As Well Be Spring’ is a relaxed, romantic date composed of standards. It
provides Quebec with ample opportunity to showcase his rich, lyrical ballad
style, and he shines throughout the album".

castigator cu ‘It Might as Well Be Spring’. In multe feluri, inregistrarea esie
Principala
deosebire dintre eleeste ca ‘It Might
