Pink Floyd A Saucerful of Secrets (Full Album 1968)

“A Saucerful of Secrets” is the second studio album by the English rock band Pink Floyd, released on 29 June 1968 by EMI Columbia in the United Kingdom (following adverts in Melody Maker giving that date) and released on 27 July 1968 in the United States by Tower Records. It is the only album to be credited to the band as a five-piece, consisting of Syd Barrett (guitar), David Gilmour (guitar), Nick Mason (drums), Roger Waters (bass) and Richard Wright (keyboards). Barrett's behavior had become unpredictable during the recording of the album, so David Gilmour was recruited to complement Barrett, who eventually left the band before the completion of the album.
While the prior record had been creatively driven by Barrett as the band's leader and principal songwriter, this album showed a much more diverse set of influences, with every member contributing to songwriting and lead vocal roles. Gilmour, new with the band, appears on five songs (all except "Remember a Day" and "Jugband Blues"), while Barrett, in his final appearance on a Pink Floyd album, contributed to three ("Remember a Day", "Jugband Blues" and "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun"). "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" was the only song all five members appeared on together. The band's drummer, Nick Mason, has declared “A Saucerful of Secrets” to be his favourite Pink Floyd album.
Upon release, “A Saucerful of Secrets” reached number nine in the UK charts, but it didn't chart in the US until April 2019, peaking at number 158. The album received mostly positive reviews, though many critics have deemed it inferior to “The Piper at the Gates of Dawn”.

“A Saucerful of Secrets” este al doilea album de studio al trupei engleze de rock Pink Floyd, lansat la 29 iunie 1968 de catre EMI Columbia in Marea Britanie (conform anunturilor din Melody Maker care dadeau acea data) si la 27 iulie 1968 de catre Tower Records in Statele Unite. Este singurul album acreditat trupei cu o compenenta de 5 membri, avandu-I impreuna pe Syd Barrett, David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Nick Mason si Richard Right.
Comportarea lui Barrett a devenit imprevizibbila la inregistrarea acestui album, asa ca a fost recrutat Gilmour ca sa-l completeze pe Barrett care a parasit trupa inainte de finalizarea albumului.
In timp ce albumul anterior a fost condus de Barrett ca si creativitate fiind leader-ul trupei si principalul compositor, acest album a aratat un set de influente mai divers, cu fiecare membru contribuind la compozitie si interpretare vocala. Gilmour, mai nou in trupa, apare pe cinci piese din total (exceptand "Remember a Day" si "Jugband Blues"), in timp ce Barrett, la ultima sa aparitie pe un album Pink Floyd, a contribuit la trei piese (("Remember a Day", "Jugband Blues" si "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun"). "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" a fost singura piesa in care cei cinci membri apar impreuna. Bateristul trupei Nick Mason a spus ca “A Saucerful of Secrets” este albumul lui preferat de la Pink Floyd.
Dupa lansare, “A Saucerful of Secrets” a atins numarul noua in clasamentele britanice, dar n-a intrat in clasamentele americane pana in aprilie 2019, atingand locul 158. Albumul a primit in general critici positive, desi unii critici l-au catalogat a fi mai slab decat “The Piper at the Gates of Dawn”.
