Derek and the Dominos - Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs (Full album 1970)

“Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs” is the only studio album by Anglo-American blues rock band Derek and the Dominos. Released in November 1970, the double album is best known for its title track, "Layla", and is often regarded as Eric Clapton's greatest musical achievement. The other band members were Bobby Whitlock on keyboards and vocals, Jim Gordon on drums, Carl Radle on bass, and special guest performer Duane Allman on lead and slide guitar on 11 of the 14 songs.
In the United States, “Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs” peaked at number 16 on the Billboard Top LPs chart. It returned to the US albums chart again in 1972, 1974 and 1977, and has since been certified Platinum by the RIAA. Having failed to chart in Britain originally, it finally debuted on the UK Albums Chart in 2011, peaking at number 68.
In 2000, the album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. In 2003, television network VH1 named “Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs” the 89th-greatest album of all time, and Rolling Stone ranked it number 117 on its list of "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time". Critic Robert Christgau ranked Layla the third greatest album of the 1970s. In 2012, the Super Deluxe Edition of the record won a Grammy Award for Best Surround Sound Album.

“Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs” este singurul album de studio al trupei anlo-americane de blues rock Derek and the Dominos. Lansat in noiembrie 1970,  privit ca cea mai mare realizare muzicala a lui Eric Clapton. Ceilalti membri ai trupei au fost Bobby Whitlock la claviaturi si vocal, Jim Gordon la tobe, Carl Radle la bas si oaspetele special, performerul Duane Allman la chitara lider si la chitara glissando la piesele nr.11 si 14.
In Statele Unite “Layla and the Other Assorted Love Songs” a atins locul 16 in chart-ul Bilboard Top LPs. S-a reintors in chart-ul American in 1972, 1074 si 1977, fiind certifiact de atunci cu disc de platina de catre RIAA. In Marea Britanie nu a intrat in Chart Britain original, facandu-si aici debutul de abia in 2011 cand a aatins locul 68.
In 2000 albumul a fost introdus in Grammy Hall of Fame. In 2003 reteaua de televiziune VH1 a numit albumul ca fiind al 89-lea cel mai mare din toate timpurile si Rolling Stone l-a plasat pe locul 117 in lista lor “Celel mai bune 500 de albume din toate timpurile”. Criticul Robert Christgau l-a numit ca fiind al treilea cel mare in anii ’70. In 2012 editia Super Deluxe a castigat un Grammy Award pentru albumul cel mai bun cu sunet stereo surround.
